Viva La Difference...

Congressman Jefferson must go. He must resign from congress now. He has been indicted on charges that call into question his very fitness to serve in that high office. Party be damned. This is bigger than party. This is about the people we want representing us in DC. The quality and integrity of those people. We can live with stupid. Stupid people elect stupid people - they always have. We can live with lies. Politicians lie. It is the job of the electorate to learn to differentiate between truth and lies, to watch actions much more closely than words.
I know, there's that whole "innocent until proven guilty" thing. And that's important. But this is MORE important. In a way, by accepting a position of such power and authority, a politician must understand that they will be held to a much higher standard than a utility worker or an insurance salesman. Their corruption is hurtful to our nation, our system of government and the implicit trust we must have in our lawmakers.
Leave it to the Republicans to put party loyalty above honesty, even above patriotism. Ultimately, they are the ones that have to go home and face their constituents, explaining why they are willing to overlook corruption simply because to do so supports their own accumulation of power. We have to draw the line somewhere. We have to say "enough". We cannot allow corruption to impact the things we want our nation to stand for. Do the right thing, Congressman. Step down, resign from Congress, and go home in disgrace. For disgrace is all you have earned...
